Texture

Texture is an art element that refers to how an object’s surface characteristics and appearance feel to the touch or are perceived to feel. Our perception of texture in visual art is influenced by our interactions with the physical world. Common adjectives used to describe texture are smooth or rough, soft or hard, coarse or fine, matt or glossy, etc. Matte surfaces, for example, reflect a soft, dull light, while shiny surfaces tend to be glossy.
